Meet Our Exotic Veterinarian
Dr. Mercedez Wood is enthusiastic about caring for pocket pets! She obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from The Ohio State University in May of 2025 and is excited to be returning to BAH as a doctor!
Her professional interests include preventative care, advanced diagnostic imaging including ultrasound and CT and exotic animal medicine!

Tips for a Smooth Exotic Mammal Veterinary Appointment
We currently see small mammals such as: rabbits, guinea pigs, rats, mice, hamsters, hedgehogs, chinchillas, and gerbils. Here are some tips to consider when bringing your exotic mammal to the vet:
- Ensure you have a secure, appropriately sized carrier for your pet.
- Bring their favorite food/snacks along.
- Take photos or video of your pocket pet’s enclosure/setup to show our veterinary team.
- Write down the names of or take photos of your pet’s food, supplements, and bedding materials.
- Take note of your pet’s eating and activity habits.
- Bring your pet’s friend(s) along for moral support.
